Scouts ALONE Camp – Myuna Bay

3–5 October 2026 | Myuna Bay Scout Camp

Think you could manage 24 hours on your own with only ten carefully chosen items?

This camp will feature our ALONE 24 Challenge, a supervised individual bushcraft and survival experience inspired by survival-style challenges. From 9:00am Sunday to 9:00am Monday, each Scout will establish their own individual campsite and spend 24 hours testing their self-reliance, bushcraft skills, planning and resilience.

Each participant will be limited to 10 challenge items. A sleeping bag and 3 × 3 m tarp are compulsory, with Scouts choosing their other eight items before the camp. Choices will include things such as cooking equipment, cordage, fire-lighting equipment, approved hand tools, sleeping comforts, lighting and other useful survival items. Choosing wisely will be part of the challenge.

Throughout the 24 hours Scouts will complete challenges involving shelter building, fire-lighting or fire skills, campcraft, pioneering/bushcraft, cooking and survival problem-solving. Completing challenges will earn Survival Credits and unlock additional food items, comforts or useful assistance.

Despite the name, Scouts will not actually be left unsupervised. Individual campsites will be within a controlled area at Myuna Bay, with Scouts remaining within visual range of other participants and supervising adults. Leaders will maintain oversight and conduct regular welfare checks throughout the day and night. Scouts can request assistance or withdraw from the challenge at any time.

Essential safety requirements—including drinking water, suitable clothing, medication, emergency equipment and adequate food—are provided independently of the 10-item challenge and are never withheld.

The camp is intended for Scouts who are ready to challenge themselves, spend an extended period working independently and put their outdoor skills into practice. No previous survival-camping experience is required, but participants should be comfortable camping outdoors and willing to have a go at solving problems for themselves.
